What is Neurofeedback…

It is non-invasive.
Can be used with or without medication.
Provides long-lasting positive results.

Neurofeedback is used to improve symptoms of brain injury by reworking the damage done by the impact in order to help the brain relearn how to self-regulate and function normally again.

There are several areas that neurofeedback can help improve after a concussion or brain injury:

Enhanced concentration and attention
Reducing anxiety, improving control over emotions (e.g., anger or irritability)
Overcoming additional concerns from mild head injuries specific to the persons needs
Improvement in physical balance and coordination

These are just a few that have been reported but many have seen other cognitive concerns in their short and long term memory, vision, spatial awareness, poor sleep and communication depending on the location and extent of the injury.

A traumatic brain injury is like as a construction zone.
Neurofeedback helps to clean up the debris, reorganize and regulate the brain neural pathways for a more balanced state of mind.

How can neurofeedback help?

“A speech therapist specializing in TBI began neurofeedback training with her patients in the first hospital-based program to use neurofeedback training. When interviewed, the speech therapist reported more instances of progress in speech improvement for TBI patients in the one year since implementing neurofeedback training than in the whole previous ten years combined. She felt that training the brain increases success exponentially.”

Another example “a therapist shared a situation in which a patient showed significant improvement three years after suffering a stroke. The patient’s left hand had been constantly and completely clenched since the stroke occurred. After her tenth neurofeedback training session, she began to open and use her hand.”

The therapist targeted the brain’s motor strip – an area involved in controlling muscles and muscle tone. Consistent training on those motor circuits can help to reorganize the neural networks communication process by teaching the brain to self-regulate to become more efficient. This patient found neurofeedback successful by enabling them to regain motor function in her hand again.

How Neurofeedback works to help damage:

In the past, brain injury or concussion damage was seen to be irreversible. However, with advances in neurofeedback, this method can be used to help correct the root cause of the damage.

How will neurofeedback benefit you or a loved one?

Neurofeedback can help in the recovery process but the extent depends on numerous factors: medical, physiological and cognitive needs all play a factor in rehabilitation.

Step 1

Fill out the contact box below. One of our friendly office staff will contact you to listen to your needs, answer any questions and set up a diagnostic evaluation. We accept insurance and self pay. We will submit information to see what is covered complimentary. .

Step 2

After completing the diagnostic evaluation. We set up a qEEG Brain Map to identify key areas of the brain to pinpoint areas that need to be improved. A qEEG Brain Map is performed to pinpoint the area’s of dysregulation from the concussion or TBI. Protocols are created that are specifically designed for the individual’s brain chemistry.

Step 3

Once the protocols are determined, the trainee begins Neurofeedback Brain training. With consistent training, healthy brainwave patterns can be improved, normalized and optimized.
Neurofeedback training includes watching a movie, playing a video game, or listening to audio tones. Each protocol is designed to the trainee's needs. These training sessions are designed to teach the person to self-regulate and retrain their brainwave patterns. With continued feedback, coaching, and practice, the healthier brainwave patterns are maintained. Neurofeedback can be compared to strength training for the brain, enhancing cognitive flexibility and control.
